This beautiful cyanotype printed, upcycled, short sleeve button down shirt was made by myself, Rachele Bowden. I used florals recycled / salvaged from weddings I worked as a caterer. These flowers would have ended up in the trash, but they got a second life through this craft. I also try to use second hand or upcycled clothing and linens as much as possible.
This shirt is by Azteca Lindo, a brand from Mexico. It’s a size small. Its a short sleeve, collared, button down shirt with wooden buttons and a 5 button front closure. The shirt has a lace back insert with lace edging details along sleeves. The lace allows for ventilation on hot days. The fabric is light cream colored, woven, and 100% cotton. I printed a floral landscape on both front panels of this shirt, leaving the collar and back blank.
This piece uses pressed delphiniums, renunculus, lisianthis, and butterfly renunculus flowers.
NOTE: Cyanotype is a natural dying process and can colors can bleed or stain, and fade over time. To prevent fading, do NOT expose pieces to a lot of direct sunlight for long periods of time, and follow the care instructions included the care sheet. They have been washed once after dying.
